Restoration and conservation of Silver We undertake repairs and conservation to all silver ware. The photographs show the condition of a Candelabra and Centerpiece before repair. The plates of the Centerpiece were missing and my client decided to have sconces made in the same style as those of the candelabra.
Identical copies of the sconces were made in wax. These were invested in refractory material and silver was cast centrifugally. Because of the fidelity of this process the resulting copies were impossible to distinguish from the originals.
The heavily tarnished metal of the centerpiece and the candelabra was carefully restored to its original condition using a machine of our design. The process is electrochemical and is called ionic reduction. It simply reverses the natural tarnishing process. No metal is lost in the process. The process is very gentle on the gold
surface. It is completely non abrasive and will not remove any remaining
gold. Tarnish and dirt are lifted free of the surface without any
damage
